NO MEETING THIS WEEK
We are working on our Thank You Veterans Project
Our Service committee has scheduled a tentative date to meet at the VFW to assemble the Thank You Boxes for our Veterans. In the meantime, we are asking our members and families to write a Dear Veteran personal letter to show appreciation, which we will enclose in each box. Since this is an ongoing project, and we have about 30 backpacks for our next distribution, we welcome all letters,
especially from youth and children.
BOX DECORATING: In addition to the letters, we were hoping Interact would decorate the boxes and the opportunity was offered to all students at the high school but so far no one has picked up a box to decorate.
Covid makes everything harder.
Are there any Rotarians/family members who would be able to decorate a box?
Thank you to everyone who helped make our Trivia event a success! It was a lot of fun, and not to brag or anything, but the Huey team (Nerd Immunity) won! Team Scarpelli came in 2nd. It was great to see our club members participating, as well as other Rotarians and especially, participation from the community, which helps us spread the word about Rotary.
END HUNGER 3.6: Nutley Rotary has purchased the maximum food on behalf of Interact from the District, so that we will receive double the food. Interact is tentatively having a can shake on March 28 from 12-2 to raise funds to reimburse our club. They will also hand out flyers about their upcoming project, NUTLEY ENDS HUNGER.
MEMBERSHIP: Each one Bring One is our motto! Please see flyer below on membership contest that could earn our club $1000!
GOLF OUTING: Belleville Rotary Club is asking us to join them for our traditional Bob Schoeber Golf Outing. We have several interested members, and we need as many as possible to make this worth it. Tentative Date is Wednesday June 2.
Please consider participating by coming to golf and selling sponsorships for $100 each. More info coming soon!
PETS: There is one more PETS training on Tuesday March 30th, which is open to all members! Learn more about Rotary! check the info here: MID-NORTHEAST MULTI-DISTRICT PETS
Stay safe!
ROTARY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
When I joined Rotary in 2015, I wondered what is
Rotary Leadership Institute?
I signed up and discovered it is the best way to learn more about Rotary! I've been attending every year since.
It is a series of fast-paced, interactive courses offered to refine a Rotarian's leadership skills. Courses are fun, topical, interactive, and geared toward busy business and professional people who want to be more effective leaders in Rotary and in their professional careers. Courses are offered at basic, intermediate, advanced and graduate levels.
The overriding goal of the courses is to create ENTHUSIASM for Rotary. A better understanding of Rotary shows the great potential of Rotary service to benefit our local as well as global communities.
This is something our club should participate in annually to enhance our effectiveness and grow our club. Statistic show that clubs whose members participate in Rotary Leadership Institute are stronger and more vibrant that those who don’t. Help make our club the best it can be.
The District 50/50 is a great way to support your club and a
great way to win some money. There will be 93 winning prizes this year.
We have 100 tickets to sell and our club will get $9.70 per tickets sold.
This year we will be selling the tickets virtually.
All you need to do is let me know, by email or call me, how many tickets and I will complete the ticket form and send you an email with the completed tickets.
Checks can made out to Nutley Rotary and sent to me at 3 Cadmus St in Nutley.
Please try to sell these tickets to your friends and family.
At Rotary, we have no tolerance for racism. Promoting respect, celebrating diversity, demanding ethical leadership, and working tirelessly to advance peace are central tenets of our work.
We have more work to do to create more just, open and welcoming communities for all people.
We know there are no easy fixes and that challenging conversations and work lie before all of us. Rotary’s strength has long been our ability and commitment to bringing people together. We will tap into that strength now as we stand with those who are working for peace and justice.
Rotary will do our part to listen, learn and take action to ensure that we continue to contribute to making positive change.
